การพัฒนาระบบล่ามแปลภาษาไทย-อังกฤษ บนโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่

Abstract

Nowadays, foreign languages, particularly English, are important in everyday communication of Thai people. In particular, Thailand is a tourist city that there are many foreign arrivals. Conversation between Thailand to foreigners is usually done with difficulty. Tools assisted in conversation would be necessary. Mobile devices such as smartphone and tablet are very popular. In addition, the communication network technologies are efficient developed. Therefore, we selected mobile devices as platforms for implementing “Mobile Speech to Speech Translation: MSST”. There are three main processes of the MSST. First is speech recognition process. The system perceives human voices and then automatically recognizes those voices in to text. Secondly, the recognized text in one language is fed into machine translation process to receive the text in another language. Finally, the translated text is sent to speech synthesis process that output the human speech in another language.

ในปัจจุบันภาษาต่างประเทศโดยเฉพาะภาษาอังกฤษมีความสำคัญในการติดต่อสื่อสารใน ชีวิตประจำวันของคนไทยโดยเฉพาะบุคคลที่อาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่ของแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่มีชาวต่างชาติอาศัยอยู่มาก การสื่อสารกับชาวต่างชาติของคนไทยที่ไม่ค่อยมีความรู้ในภาษาอังกฤษจึงเป็นเรื่องยาก จึงต้องมีเครื่องมือที่ ช่วยในการสื่อสาร เช่น หนังสือพจนานุกรมภาษาไทย-อังกฤษ หรือตัวแปลภาษาอื่นๆ ที่สามารถพกพาติดตัวได้ ซึ่งโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ก็เป็นอุปกรณ์อย่างหนึ่งที่ใช้กันอย่างแพร่หลายและใช้ติดตัวอยู่ตลอดเวลา จึงทำให้มีการ พัฒนาเทคโนโลยีใหม่ๆเพื่อรองรับการใช้งานบนโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ เพื่อสร้างความเพลิดเพลินและความ สะดวกสบายให้แก่ผู้ใช้โทรศัพท์มากยิ่งขึ้น ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงเป็นแนวคิดหนึ่งในการพัฒนาแอพพลิเคชันล่าม ไทย-อังกฤษ สำหรับโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อช่วยในการสื่อสารของผู้ที่ใช้ภาษาไทยและผู้ที่ใช้ ภาษาอังกฤษให้มีความเข้าใจกันและมีความสะดวกยิ่งขึ้น โดยการทำงานหลักๆของโปรแกรมคือจะรับเสียงพูด เข้ามา แล้วทำการรู้จำเสียงเพื่อให้ได้ข้อความออกมา จากนั้นจึงนำข้อความที่ได้ไปแปลเป็นอีกภาษาหนึ่ง แล้วนำข้อความที่ถูกแปลแล้วมาสังเคราะห์เสียงพูด ซึ่งจะได้ผลลัพธ์เป็นเสียงพูดของอีกภาษาหนึ่งออกมา
